What to Expect

Reaching out for help is tough - you have to look in the mirror and admit to yourself that there's something going on that you can't fix by yourself. You've likely tried alot of different things to manage your anger, anxiety, or ADHD, but nothing seems to give you the lasting changes you want. This is where therapy comes in.
So what is the role of a therapist? I'm here to help you gain a clear understanding of what you need to change to improve your life - to set specific goals that we can work toward. I'll be your sounding board to help you make sense of what you're going through, giving you the chance to talk about what's going on in an unfiltered way. I'll ask questions, give feedback, and provide you with a different lens to look at your situation. We may need to gain a deeper understanding of the struggle you're facing, learning more about your context, history, thinking patterns, and emotional reactions. We'll have conversations about what is working in your life, and use that to help us understand what isn't working. All of this will help us create realistic strategies and tools that you can use to work your way toward your goals. To make actual, practical changes in your life. We'll stay focused on the outcomes you want to see, pausing to check your progress along the way.

The trouble with most therapy is that it helps you feel better. But to get better, you have to back it up with action, action, action.
